When a flyer first landed in Mary Fine’s hands, a homeowner in Smyrna, she almost didn’t believe it. “I didn’t think it was real,” Fine said. “Not only was it real, but it was wonderful.”
That flyer led her to Rebuilding Together Atlanta (RTA), a nonprofit transforming lives across the city by repairing homes, revitalizing neighborhoods, and rebuilding communities for those who need it most.

A Mission Built on Care and Community
RTA’s work focuses on critical home repairs for low-income seniors, veterans, and people with disabilities. RTA is dedicated to helping homeowners age in place. As Executive Director April Cline explains, these are often the neighbors with the deepest roots in the community, what RTA calls “legacy homeowners,” many of whom have lived in the same house for 40 to 50 years.
Their organization’s services range widely, covering everything from roof replacements and structural repairs to HVAC, plumbing, and electrical upgrades, as well as flooring repairs and accessibility improvements. And, RTA knows that collaboration is key. “The whole community comes together,” Cline said. Local partners like LifeCycle even donate building materials, ensuring repairs are sustainable and cost-effective.
Supporting homeowners goes beyond fixing a leak or replacing a roof. It’s about creating safer, healthier living spaces and honoring people who have shaped their neighborhoods for decades.
